Russian attack kills 25 civilians on Ukraine’s Independence Day


A missile struck a railway station and a residential area in eastern Ukraine.



The death toll rises to 25 from an initially reported 22 after three more bodies were recovered from Chaplyne in a rescue operation.



The Russian defense ministry had no immediate comment on the attack .

Air raid sirens blared at least 7 times in Kyiv.

Ukrainian authorities said air raid alerts were sounded 189 times across the country on Wednesday.

It was more than any other time during the six-month-long conflict.

On other hand, Ukrainian forces shot down a Russian drone in the Vinnytsia region

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced nearly $3 billion for weapons and equipment for Ukraine.


So far US has given more than $13.5 billion in military assistance to Ukraine.
